So yeah, life is going along here in my corner of the world. Things are starting to lighten up a bit. School has most of my preoccupation right now, but I'm still working on stories when I get a chance. In fact, I'm actually working on an original novel for a project that I'm doing for school. Going to get it published and everything once I'm done. Pretty cool huh?
I have now peaked your curiosity haven't I? You want to know more about this said project don't you?
Well sorry, I'm afraid you will have to wait. Not for long though. I should have the general summary of the project up soon. Until then, this will make sure that you keep your eyes on this blog. Because yes, I am still alive and I still want your support and you reading it. :)

The Major Project
Hey guys, I figured I'd better start talking about the major project I recently got involved in June. This project is very important to me, and I think you should know about it.
The project is a fic that involves the Hunger Games fandom. What is it? Well, it's basically this. Twenty-four authors come together to write an epic Hunger Games fic. Each author is responsible for writing a character, detailing their journey throughout the Hunger Games. It is a very complex project, the characters have to interact in so many ways. They have so many different personalities, and it's going to be very interesting to watch as the story unfolds.
What's just as amazing as the story itself are the people behind it, writing this story. Some of us are new writers, while others are a little more experienced. (Compared to most of them, I think I'm actually most experienced of the authors. Don't ever doubt their talent though. All of them show some excellent promise.) We also come from many different backgrounds. Have different personalities. Even believe completely different things. But we are becoming a family on there. Getting involved in a project this big is something that I'm glad I did. I now have some new friends and acquaintances. Despite all our differences though, we are coming together to write one of the most ultimate projects ever undertaken in the Hunger Games fandom. Sadly, another story already has credit for being the first and are currently working on a sequel, so we get slightly overshadowed. But we'll give them a run for it. :)
What Tribute am I in charge of in this story? You may find this surprising, but I am in charge of the District 2 Career Male Tribute named Dominic Parraldi. Known for his excellent skills and also for being a heart-throbber and a playboy, Dominic hopes to win the Hunger Games for the honor and glory. However, just like every single Tribute, he has substance to his story. There is more to him than meets the eye.
Right now, while I do have a few fans, there are some people who don't like him because of his arrogance and his playboy nature. It makes me chuckle. Honestly, I can understand why they don't like him. But I don't think that he should be automatically labeled as a bad character. Dominic is as well developed as some of the characters that are considered "good" in this story. You don't know his full story yet. As the plot progresses, I am going to be developing him. Showing you just how human he is, where he comes from, why he acts the way he does, and that there is more to him than meets the eye.

Warning, this story is rated T for a reason. There is going to be violence, swearing, alcohol usage by various characters, intense action sequences, sexual references, and other things that one can find slightly disturbing. But then again, if you were afraid of that, then why would you read the Hunger Games in the first place? Just remember, because those themes and elements are there, doesn't mean the authors themselves promote them.
If you would like to discuss the fanfiction, one of the authors, Dances With Vampires (author of District 1 Male Tribute Gleam Jewett) established a form so that fans of the fic could discuss it.

A Recent Nomination

Finally An Update!
I've basically been sick for the past week. So I figured, why not get a blog post in? Feels like forever since I last blogged. Sorry guys, things have gotten busy. Good news is school will be out in about a month, so yeah, I'm crazy about that. Means more updates. :)
Now I better take care of this one thing.

Random News
I've recently been getting in touch with my inner child again. I've been reading fairy tales, ones that were told by me by my family. I found wholes books of them for free on my Kindle that I got for Christmas. I can't help but chuckle as I read them. It takes me back to the good old days. Before life became so stressed and hectic.
Yet in reading these tales, I have recently come across new inspirations. I think I now have an idea for an original story in the works. An idea where I'll blend reality with fairy tales, myths, legends, and yeah you get the picture. I'm not quite sure about the road it will take yet though. I'll have to do some developing first. I'll be sure to let you know.
In other news, I just finished chapters 4 and 5 of my story Narnia Falls to Telmar. I've been trying to add a little more action to it to help readers get pulled into it. I only hope my efforts are fruitful. I should have them both typed up in a couple of weeks. My parents think I'm wierd using a laptop and the family computer at the same time, but still. I've realized this week that even though my life is busy, I still need to keep people interested in my works. And the best way is probably to keep updating.
And you all might find this interesting. I'll be posting a story soon which will be talking about Narnia's history from the beginning until the end of the Golden Age. It's going to be fun. Influences going into this work are the usual, myths, legends, fairy tales. I'll also be adding real life experiences, history, various theologies because of the different religions, and of course Christianity. I haven't been able to come up with a decent title for it, so I've been calling it Narnia's Silmarillion. I plan on coming up with an official title once I start publishing it. (I'm going to wait until everything is completely written before I do that though.) Hopefully that will spark some interest in you guys. :)
In other news, family situation has not changed much. We're still kind of miserable, though I admit, I'm in a better mood than I have been. I just wish this divorce would get over with. My parents are both too stubborn and selfish to really care though. They refuse to budge, even for us. And my brother is currently going through one of his own Edmund moments, except you can disclude the whole "doubting Aslan" part of it. He's still got a grasp on his faith, just that I can see it's getting exhausted and he's trying to prove himself. As for my sister, she's ok. Though like me, she is growing tired and weary.

Still Alive
Yes, people, I'm still alive. Don't worry. Just thought I let you all know that. School has just been very busy and in order to keep up with it I haven't been able to post as often as I would like.
I have also read too many books for me to dedicate single posts to them. So I will have to consolidate and actually work on them when I get the chance.

Recent Reading #14
As of yesterday, I officially have finished reading perhaps one of my most favorite sci-fi books, The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells.
War of the Worlds is about Martians who invade England in the early 1900's, my guess some time between World War I and after World War II. The main character's life is turned upside down one evening when a strange extra-terrestial object, seemingly harmless, fall to Earth and by the next day Martians are destroying all of England. The Martians only seek to rid the human dominance over Earth because their world is dying and they want a new planet to live on.
I loved it in case you couldn't already tell. Most alien invasion stories were inspired by this book. But you know what they say, nothing beats the original. :)

Recent Reading #13
Hey people! Just got done reading an awesome book. And I can't wait to tell you about it. The book is called Hush, Hush.
Hush, Hush is about a girl named Nora Grey who finds herself mysteriously attracted to the new transfer student, Patch. He is handsome, but he has a bad boy reputation. And clearly he is attracted to her as well. One night though, Nora learns she is being followed by a creepy stalker in a ski mask. Her suspicions immediately turn to Patch, especially with his very little known past. As she investigates though, she can't help but question her suspicion. And before she realizes it, she finds herself pulled into the great war between the Fallen Angels and Heaven.
What did I think of it? It was very good. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't put it down. The characters and plot are very well crafted. Fair warning though, there are lots of sexual inuendos in this story. In addition, some of you may question the accuracy of the spiritual content inside. With that aside though, it was very well written and I enjoyed it. If someone were to ask me for a book recommendation, I would put this book in my top fifty.
What did I think of it? It was very good. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't put it down. The characters and plot are very well crafted. Fair warning though, there are lots of sexual inuendos in this story. In addition, some of you may question the accuracy of the spiritual content inside. With that aside though, it was very well written and I enjoyed it. If someone were to ask me for a book recommendation, I would put this book in my top fifty.

Recent Reading #12
Some of you are wondering why I didn't just add this with the Rachel Scott one. The reason why my dear readers is because I just read one of the most horribly written books I ever wrote. It does deserve to be with the book on Rachel Scott the book was so bad. But I'll get to reasons why I hate this book later. You probably want to know what it was I read...
The book I just read is none other than Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.
Twilight is about a sad and lonely girl named Bella. She is not too happy about moving to Forks, Washington and living with her father. But she doesn't want to be with her mom and her mom's new boyfriend in Florida. Though many of the kids love her, she tries to shake them away. And just when she thought she couldn't like Forks, she meets the vampire known as Edward Cullen.
Of course, you already know that I hate this book with a passion. But now I must give you my reasons why. Let us first start off with the obvious. Bella is a Mary Su. Seriously, no girl like her should have that many guys interested in her. Not only that, but all the characters seem naturally drawn to her even though she appears to be a mopey wet blanket. Let us also not forget the fact that Edwards is too perfect, being both good looking and smart and muscially gifted. Stephanie Meyer also writes the story about nothing except how perfect Edward seems to be in Bella's eyes. Then she tries to squeeze in a horribly crafted plot in the last ninety pages.
In conclusion, Twilight has completely devestated the reputation of vampires. The book also is also filled with Sues and Stus. Not to mention that Bella is just plain annoying. Seriously, I can't believe this a New York Times bestseller.

Recent Reading #11
This book talks about Rachel Scott's spiritual journey with God and Christianity. Not only that it, it talks about how her faith inspired her to be the best person she can be. It also includes excerpts from her diary, and how she knew she was going to die young someday, and how her death would help change the lives of millions of people across the globe.
I higly recommend this book. It is one of the few non-fiction pieces that has ever earned my favor. This book is inspiring and uplifting. And any kind of Christian will be able to read it. And even people who aren't Christians might find it enjoyable. Be warned, there are some themes such as sex and smoking. (These come up when her parents mention Rachel's struggle with peer pressure.) But as I said, a good read.

The Lord of the Rings Awards
Eldra over at the blog A Day On Daremo just gave me an award called the Lord of the Rings Award. Thanks Eldra! Very much appreciated.
Now in order to accept this award I must answer the following three questions:
1) Who is your favorite LOTR character and why?
Man there's too many to choose from. But mine would probably be Eowyn. Her story is very interesting, and the fact she destroyed the Witch King of Angmar earns her this position.
2) If you were in Middle-Earth, what species would you be?

Recent Reading #10
Wow, only ten books this year so far? I'm really off of my game. Oh well, I technically have an excuse, too much stuff going on.
Anyway, I decided to drop you all of this review that I am doing on a book I just read. The book is called Reckless and is written by the ever amazing Cornelia Funke.
Reckless is about a man named Jacob Reckless who must find a cure to save his younger brother Will from becoming a Goyle, a horrible species of creature with bodies made of stone. Will gets this curse after he and his brother are attacked by Goyles and Will is terribly wounded. The curse comes from an evil Fairy who plays the primary villain in not only this story, but in many fairy tales such as Sleeping Beauty. With the help of Will's girlfriend, Clara, a greedy business Dwarf named Valiant, and Fox, a friend of Jacob who is a shapeshifting girl who calls herself Fox becuase of the animal she can change into, they set out into the land in order to try and find a cure before Will becomes a Goyle forever.

NaNoWriMo 2011
Sorry for the slow updates people. I'm currently very busy with school work and the like. Ah well. Maybe in the summer I'll get some major things done.
As of this year I decided to take part in NaNoWriMo. So we'll see how well this goes. I don't think I'll get close to 50,000 words. But it's worth a shot. I think.

Flooding- Desperate Need of Prayer
As some of you may know, the mid-Atlantic and some of the New England states have been viciously assaulted by tropical storm Lee. This storm has set records. It has set a new record of rain fall and amount of damage. It was even worse than hurricane Agnes, who struck the Mid-Atlantic and New England states pretty hard back in 1972.
All this rain flooded a river called the Susquehanna River. It is the sixteenth largest river in the United States that flows from New York down into Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. When that river flooded, so didn't it's tributaries and other streams and cricks.
I live along the back roads, and we didn't have much water. But I can not say the same for other people in my area. The flooding had submerged two whole nearby towns in water. Houses any less than two stories that weren't on hills were under thick, muddy water. Whole businesses were under water as well. Bridges were completely covered in water. Roads were covered, so weren't detours and the interstate (though that has been reopened). Gas wells have also been under water, and some of the gas and oil leaked into the water. It's hard to imagine. In all my life, I never thought that I would witness something like this.
Though I wasn't effected, sadly I had family members who were. I had two aunts and uncles and cousins who had to evacuate their house in order to avoid the flood. My one cousin and her parents went to another house that my uncle owned, which was on top of a hill. My other cousin and her mother and father had to take shelter at my grandparents' house. My aunt and uncle and cousins who lived up in New York were also effected by the flooding. My cousins missed their first day of school because of Lee. I was also worried when I found out that a couple of my mom's aunts (making them my great aunts) had to evacuate their home/restaurant. It was also pretty scary when my dad went to work yesterday and he ended up trapped on the other side of one of the flooded bridges. He managed to find a way back home that wasn't closed though.
I also have friends in various counties who have been effected by the flooding. I still have yet to hear from some of them. I'm getting even more worried.
My school has been closed down for the past couple of days. The first day was because of all the water covering the roads. Today it is closed because it is serving as an evacuation center for the people in my school district who have nowhere else to go. Other schools have been serving as evacuation centers as well, those who haven't been effected by the flooding. I was distraught when I learned that one school that normally served as an evacuation center didn't get the message about the flooding from the Red Cross due to a communication error. The fire department there had to take it's place, and it quickly became overwhelmed. Churches have also been taking in people.
Which brings me to something else. Some of these evacuation centers lack the proper amount of food and water. We take for granted these things, but there are people out there now who do not have food and water. Others do not even have adequate shelter. Some people are actually trapped in their homes, waiting for rescue. The National Guard was called out to rescue those who were trapped.
Some people chose not to evacuate their homes. The majority of these were elderly people. Many of them had lived through Hurricane Agnes, and they swore they would not abandon their homes. They said they will stay in the second or third floors of their homes. One even said, "I lived here in this house when Agnes came through, and I didn't leave. I will not leave it now."
Some people did heed the warning and evacuated. Which was a good thing. Entire houses have been ripped away by the flooded river. They were just ripped right off of their foundation. One house nearly collided into a nearby bridge and nearly knocked the bridge out. Thankfully, the bridge is still standing firm and strong.
Some businesses decided to try and fight the water. The local movie theater here was busy pumping out water while people came in to take apart the seats so they could save the fabric. It was a tragic sight to see. That movie theater is the treasure of that town, and it is extremely beautiful. They also do plays. It has helped out with countless fundraisers too. I would never have imagined that theater may end up needing it's own fundraiser in order to help with repairs. What's even sadder was this place was remodeled just last year in order to accommodate more theaters. To see all that nearly destroyed by water is just awful.
Hopefully, the theater has flood insurance. Unlike some people who have been effected by water. In one of the towns that is more further away, people who have been flooded do not even have flood insurance. Their agents said they wouldn't need it. Those people are now going to have to pay for those repairs from their own pockets.
In another town, a curfew had to be established last night. People had started to loot houses. At nine 'o' clock that night, all people had to be inside. That just makes me sick. That people would even dare think about looting a place during a natural disaster is just unbelievable.
This is no joke people. It felt like we were back in the time of Noah when the Great Flood came. I heard references to it all day yesterday. Some today too.
Thankfully, some of the water has died down. But it's far from over. Other places still have water rising. As that water in those places starts to lower, it is rising in other places. So needless to say, we are not out of the tunnel yet. We can see a light, but it's not over yet.
Yes, we are all in great need of prayer over here. I am asking you on behalf of all the people of this area who have been effected by the flooding. Some of you who are on thelionscall know and have been praying, I just ask you continue to pray. For those of you who are just learning about it on here, please, don't hesitate to pray. I don't care who or how you to pray to but please, we need all the prayer we can get over here.

Recent Reading 9
I finally managed to snag time in order to work on this new recent reading. The book I recently read a few days ago was Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Last Olympian.
In this book, Percy Jackson and his friends at Camp Half-Blood must defend Olympus against Kronus's oncoming assault, which turns into a war spread all across New York City. The gods and goddesses are off fighting against their other enemies, and Olympus is virtually unguarded. And more than likely, it is Olympus's last stand.
What did I think of it? I actually thought it was good. I do have a couple of complaints though. For one, the battle seems a little long. I love books with battles in them, but this one just seemed to be dragged out. I also have a quip about the ending (which I won't spoil for you.) Other than that though, I thought it was good. Fair warning, lots of violence and intense scenes.

Recent Reading 7 & 8
Hey guys, guess what I have been reading for the past three days? Percy Jackson! Oh yes, I'm still a fan of this demigod. I just managed to finish reading the third book on the 31st of August, and finished the fourth book on the first of September.
And I decided to start calling these reviews my recent readings. Sort of makes more sense to me.
In this epic third installment of the Percy Jackson story, it's almost Christmas, and Percy, Annabeth and their friend Thalia (a daughter of Zeus) are summoned by Grover to a military school in order to save a couple of half-bloods who were just discovered. The mission turns into a quest to save Annabeth and the goddess Artemis from the clutches of a Titan god and searching for a creature that can bring death to the Olympians.
What did I think of it? To be honest, I think this one is actually my second favorite. My first favorite would probably be the first book, but I don't know, the last one is really catching my attention, we'll see about that. This one was cleverly written and very interesting. Fair warning though, the stakes are being raised higher in this book. So there's more violence in it than there was in the other two.
In the fourth edition of the Percy Jackson series, Percy finds himself thrown into his deadliest mission yet. It has just been discovered that the Labyrinth still exists, and Luke plans on using it in order to invade Camp Half-Blood. In order to prevent that from happening, Percy, Grover, Annabeth, and Tyson (Percy's Cyclops half-brother from Book 2) enter it in order to find Daedulus and convince him to give them Aridne's string, which can guide anyone out of the Labyrinth.
What did I think of it? To be honest, I think this one is my least favorite. Though there are lots of twists and turns, some of them just don't seem to make much sense to me. Though that could just be me. Overall, the book was pretty good and I did enjoy it. I'm going to warn you again though. The violence in this story is worst than any of the others so far. The stakes have definitely been raised. And you can sense that the greater war is coming in the next book.
