Top 10 Favorite Actors/Actresses

Sorry this took so long everyone, I've been having some family troubles. I hope you can forgive me and continue reading this post.

Anyway, yes, I admit, I do love watching movies. But come on, give me a break. Sometimes you do need to take a break from the written word and watch a good movie every once in a while. Movies are awesome. Actually, depends on the movie to be honest. If you look for a good movie long enough, you'll be surprised what you find. So what am I going to do with this post is give you my Top 10 Favorite Actors/Actresses as of today. (I don't think there'll ever be a All-Time List until I'm dead.)

Now then...here we go. I'll start with #10 first and work my way up.

#10 Daniel Craig. This guy is amazing. He played an awesome Lord Asriel in The Golden Compass. In addition, he also plays in some James Bond films (which I need to see) when he was younger. He's a British actor of course.

#9 Nichole Kidman. This woman is a good actor. Seriously, she's good. She plays a very convincing Mrs. Coulter from The Golden Compass.

#8 Anna Popplewell is in this position because of her magnificent performance as Susan Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia. I know that many people blame her for the dreaded Suspian romance, but really it's not her fault. An actor/actress can only act what's on a script. So if you want to attack anyone, attack the film-makers.

#7 Sam Elliot is this position for his performance as Lee Scoresby from The Golden Compass. This guy is a great actor. He also plays in other films as well. He played a voice of one of characters in Marmaduke, he was the voice of El Chubradogra.

#6 This position goes to Will Poulter for his amazing performance as Eustace Scrubb in The Chronicles of Narnia. Walden Media and 20th Century Fox couldn't have picked a better actor to play the miserable little beast who turned into a great hero.

#5 Orlando Bloom gets this position because of his role as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings and also because of his role as Will Turner in Pirates of the Carribean. I wish I was the one who could go around wielding a bow around the way Bloom did when he was in Lord of the Rings.

#4 AnnaSophia Robb is an amazing actress. She's played in lots of good movies that I've seen. The most notable for me would be her role as Opal Bologna in Because of Winn-Dixie and also her role as Leslie Burke in Bridge to Terebithia.

#3 Coming in as this position is none other than Skandar Keynes. This guy plays a fantastic Edmund Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia. Even though I do love Edmund more than the character that #1 plays, I have to put Skandar here because I feel that the person I have as #1 deserves it more.

#2 Here in this position we have none other than Georgie Henley, the girl who plays Lucy Pevensie in the The Chronicles of Narnia. It's amazing watching her in those movies. I wish that some day I can meet her, she's pretty good.

#1 Finally, we have reached this final spot. My friends, it is none other than William Moseley, the guy who plays Peter Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia. This guy plays Peter very well in the series, especially in the first film. Even though Peter isn't my favorite character in the series, I feel that William Moseley deserves this spot for good performance as Peter.

So, what do you think? Are some of the actors I listed some of your favorite actors? Have you not heard of any of them? Have you heard of them but just don't like them? Who are some of your favorite actors/actresses? I'm very curious as to what you have to say. In the meantime, I'm afraid that this is the end of my post. So until then, goodbye.

Where Did I Get My Writing Style?

With this blog, I'm going to talk about my writing style and where I got it from. For those of you who have peeked in on my stuff, you probably know that I am a writer who likes to have a good balance of detail and action, as well as some character development. Many who read my stories say that I am very descriptive with my writing, and I have been called "Tolkien-ish" by a couple of people on thelionscall.com. While this may very well be true, I must admit that it is not just Tolkien who has given me influence over my writing, but other authors as well. There are three of them actually. J. R. R. Tolkien (author of The Lord of the Rings) , C. S. Lewis (author of The Chronicles of Narnia) , and Philip Pullman (author of His Dark Materials).
For those of you who have checked out my work before, you know that my writing is very descriptive, and this probably has come from my reading of J. R. R. Tolkien's books. J. R. R. Tolkien is a magnificent writer, and Lord of the Rings are beautifully written books. Tolkien has a way of putting in a lot of detail in his stories, sometimes that detail can run on for what seems like pages and pages. While I am very detailed, I try not to let that be the primary focus of my work. Which is probably where I am also like C. S. Lewis...

C. S. Lewis is much like his fellow genius, Tolkien. The two of them are considered two of the founding fathers of what is today considered "Modern Fantasy." For those of you who read my fics, there always tends to be some form of spiritual message embedded in my writing, whether it be upfront or in the background, just like many of Lewis' works. In addition, Lewis has a way with providing detail in the story, but doesn't dwell on it a lot and keeps you moving along the plotline, just like me. Even though I am more descriptive than Lewis is, I admit, my ability to keep you moving along the plotline while still providing detail probably comes from him.

Finally, the last author who has provided me a lot of influence on my writing is Philip Pullman. Now some of you probably know that Philip Pullman is an atheist, and his series His Dark Materials deals with overthrowing and killing God, and not just God, but all religion in general. Nevertheless, His Dark Materials is a beautifully written series, and is one of my favorite series of all time. (It's up there with Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings.) What exactly about Pullman's style has influenced my writing? His ability to develop characters. Seriously, this guy is a master when it comes to developing characters. Lyra Belacqua, the main character in His Dark Materials, is a girl who goes from being a barbaric and insolent girl in the beginning of the series to much more sweeter and caring girl by the end of the series. Also, Pullman has this habit of explaining what the characters' personalities are like when you first meet them. That's where I get my character personality describing from. Often I describe a character's personality when you first meet them. And as the story continues down the plotline, I tend to develop them, just as Pullman does.

So in conclusion, the three authors who have mostly influenced my writing are C. S. Lewis, J. R. R. Tolkien, and Philip Pullman. How about you? Have any authors or poets or any other writer for that matter ever influenced your style of writing in some way or another?

Do You Ever Get Writer's Block?

It is rather a silly question really, because the truth is, every writer in this world has had writer's block in some way or another. Writer's block is kryptonite for writers, especially WriterFreaks like me. It's what we writers call, "Having Trouble Writing." It blocks our muse, and we have no clue where our story is going to go next. More than often I get writer's block, and it is really frustrating. There is no limit to how long writer's block will last. Some writers have it for years!

Many times, writer's block happens because a writer is worried about being perfect. That's what mine is mostly. Twenty times a week when I'm writing I have to remind myself that I shouldn't worry about being perfect. When you're writing, you always have the chance to go back and fix something and then continue from there.

What helps me cure writer's block? I try more than just one tactic. It all depends on the time of day and the situation. Sometimes, I just need to take a short break from the laptop and do something else. Watch a movie perhaps, or read a book, or listen to some music. And more than once, my muse often gets inspired by a movie or a song or a book. A cup of coffee or two sometimes helps also, because it helps keep my mind awake and allows me to think. Going outside and walking around my woods also helps me write, especially when I'm having difficulties trying to figure out how to write the setting of a scene. Every once in a while I will even act a scene out in my bedroom with the door closed. Acting it out often helps because it gives you a sense on what a reader would want to happen next. And it also helps you realize what will make sense and what won't. Many times it helps me realize that to people reading a book it is like watching a movie for them. If you don't put in enough detail for them, then they won't feel like they are in the story. However, if you put in too much, then they will put it away because they can't imagine anything for themselves. That is the one major difference between movies and books. The difference. Because what one character is to one person is completely different to another at times.

So if you ever come across writer's block again, I recommend that you try these tactics. Who knows, they may prove handy. Always remember though, don't worry about being perfect. That's what an editor is for, to tell you what you should fix. And if you don't have one, then find one. Trust me, I know how it feels, I don't have an official editor either. But I always go to different people, who have many different views on editing. Trust me it helps. It also helps give you a wider audience range. Just remember something else too. No matter what, you can't please everyone. Writers are artists who use words to paint pictures, and not everyone is going to love your artwork. Stay strong, and don't give up.

Now for just a random picture:

Yes, it's a leprechaun for good luck. I hope this entry has helped you in case you had writer's block. Good luck and God bless!

Currently Read 1:

Hi everyone. So, with this post, I decided to tell you about anything that I have currently read. As of recently, I have just finished reading, The Children of Húrin, by J. R. R. Tolkien, with editing work done by his son, Christopher Tolkien

Children of Húrin goes into deeper depth of one of the tales featured in J. R. R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion. It follows the adventures of Túrin the son of Húrin. Húrin is a man who had spent time among the Elves, and who serves as a key soldier in the Battle of Unnumbered Tears. After daring to defy Morgoth (a.k.a The Enemy or Melkor) he is thrown in prison, and is forced to watch as Morgoth places a curse on his kin, that they should all die, and until those times come Húrin is forced to watch.

While the adventures mostly follow that of Túrin after his father is captured and he is sent to the Elven kingdom of Doriath, and the years following his exile from Doriath, it also follows the journeys of Morwen his mother, the Elf known as Beleg Strongbow, Túrin's sister whose name is Nienor, and others.

What did I think of it? Well, in my opinion, it was a good read. I didn't want to put it down (though I had to do to various reasons involving real life). However, it is a rather depressing tale. I would not recommend it to those who don't like depressing stories or to people who are thinking about committing suicide. Basically, to narrow it down, if you want a good dry fantasy read, try this book. I would also recommend it if you are tired of the good guys always coming out on top and of the good triumphing over evil.

Introduction of Me

Wow this is exciting, for me anyway. Never done anything like this before. (Begins to breathe in and out slowly in order to calm himself down.) Alright, I think I'm done. Anyway, let's see here. What is there to tell about me? Lots of things actually. So sit back and enjoy, and I hope I won't bore you to death. :)

Let's see, WriterFreak101 is the name I go by on the Internet. So if you find someone on a site or anything of the sort with this, then it is most likely me. I don't know why I use this name I alone. I just do. I've grown rather fond of it, and it has become a part of who I am to be honest. I've even started answering to it in real life.

As you can tell by the name, I am a writer, and writing is the thing I was born to do. Words make up who I am, and I can't live without them or I will die. Writing is my passion, and it is my only dream to continue to better my writing style, which I admit does need some work. Many people tell me that I am good at writing, but that is not enough for me. I have to be better than good, I want to be amazing, fantastic, sensational! Some day I would love to become a famous writer, but in order to do that, I must become as amazing as I can possibly get.

Let's see, I also love to read. I try to be open-minded, and therefore I will read various kinds of books. Doesn't mean I will like them though. My least favorite genre as of now is realistic fiction. (Come on, I read to get away from real life.) My favorite genre of all time is fantasy, and I will read almost any fantasy book that is given to me. I especially love books such as The Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, His Dark Materials, The Inheritance Cycle, and stuff like that. For some reason that even I don't understand, I don't like Harry Potter. I think it mostly has to do with the fact that the plot doesn't captivate me. But hey, if you want to read it, go ahead, who am I to stop you? I also hate Twilight and its sequels with a passion. Most horrible books I ever read in my life.

Music is often something that helps inspire my writing, especially my poetry. I have a wide taste in music, and I will listen to just about anything. I love rap, rock, and pop. Country is OK I guess. I also love Christian music. I can't stand classical music unless it is on a soundtrack of one of my favorite movies.

In addition to music, the outdoors is also something that inspires my writing. I love trees and plants and animals. They inspire me to write. Nature is extremely beautiful, and I find it saddening that it is disappearing by the day. Perhaps one day my writing will help bring a love back for the trees and the waters and the animals.

In addition to music and outdoors, Christianity itself inspires me to write. A couple of years ago though, I was an atheist. I grew up in a Christian family and everything, but when I entered seventh grade, my faith fell apart due to various reasons. In eighth grade I came back to Christianity on December 21, 2009. It's all too much to tell in this post. But someday I might just post my testimony on here for you to read.

Well I suppose, that's all I got to say until the next post. I hope you enjoyed this little introductory post, and I'll make sure to update soon. Until then, God bless. :)
