Nomination Time!

Hey there fans, just so you know, the Lion Awards is going to take place in about a month. Some of my fics are up to nominate. If you want to see them nominated to win chances at awards, feel free to do so. :)

The following fics are the ones qualified to be nominated:

The Fall of Narnia (or How Narnia Fell on TLC)

That Was Romance, This Is True Love

Peter's Present is qualified as well, but I have decided not to post that yet as account for the fact that it is a Christmas gift to my Secret Santa "victim."

Recent Reading #14

As of yesterday, I officially have finished reading perhaps one of my most favorite sci-fi books, The War of the Worlds by H. G. Wells.

War of the Worlds is about Martians who invade England in the early 1900's, my guess some time between World War I and after World War II. The main character's life is turned upside down one evening when a strange extra-terrestial object, seemingly harmless, fall to Earth and by the next day Martians are destroying all of England. The Martians only seek to rid the human dominance over Earth because their world is dying and they want a new planet to live on.

I loved it in case you couldn't already tell. Most alien invasion stories were inspired by this book. But you know what they say, nothing beats the original. :)

Recent Reading #13

Hey people! Just got done reading an awesome book. And I can't wait to tell you about it. The book is called Hush, Hush.

Hush, Hush is about a girl named Nora Grey who finds herself mysteriously attracted to the new transfer student, Patch. He is handsome, but he has a bad boy reputation. And clearly he is attracted to her as well. One night though, Nora learns she is being followed by a creepy stalker in a ski mask. Her suspicions immediately turn to Patch, especially with his very little known past. As she investigates though, she can't help but question her suspicion. And before she realizes it, she finds herself pulled into the great war between the Fallen Angels and Heaven.

What did I think of it? It was very good. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and I couldn't put it down. The characters and plot are very well crafted. Fair warning though, there are lots of sexual inuendos in this story. In addition, some of you may question the accuracy of the spiritual content inside. With that aside though, it was very well written and I enjoyed it. If someone were to ask me for a book recommendation, I would put this book in my top fifty.

Some of you are wondering why I didn't just add this with the Rachel Scott one. The reason why my dear readers is because I just read one of the most horribly written books I ever wrote. It does deserve to be with the book on Rachel Scott the book was so  bad. But I'll get to reasons why I hate this book later. You probably want to know what it was I read...

The book I just read is none other than Twilight by Stephanie Meyer.

Twilight is about a sad and lonely girl named Bella. She is not too happy about moving to Forks, Washington and living with her father. But she doesn't want to be with her mom and her mom's new boyfriend in Florida. Though many of the kids love her, she tries to shake them away. And just when she thought she couldn't like Forks, she meets the vampire known as Edward Cullen.

Of course, you already know that I hate this book with a passion. But now I must give you my reasons why. Let us first start off with the obvious. Bella is a Mary Su. Seriously, no girl like her should have that many guys interested in her. Not only that, but all the characters seem naturally drawn to her even though she appears to be a mopey wet blanket. Let us also not forget the fact that Edwards is too perfect, being both good looking and smart and muscially gifted. Stephanie Meyer also writes the story about nothing except how perfect Edward seems to be in Bella's eyes. Then she tries to squeeze in a horribly crafted plot in the last ninety pages.

In conclusion, Twilight has completely devestated the reputation of vampires. The book also is also filled with Sues and Stus. Not to mention that Bella is just plain annoying. Seriously, I can't believe this a New York Times bestseller.

Alright folks. I'm going to talk to you about the latest book I read. The book is called Rachel's Tears. It is a non-fiction book about the girl known as Rachel Scott, one of the girls who was killed in Colombine, the place where one of America's mostly dealiest school shootings took place. She is also a Christian martyr.

This book talks about Rachel Scott's spiritual journey with God and Christianity. Not only that it, it talks about how her faith inspired her to be the best person she can be. It also includes excerpts from her diary, and how she knew she was going to die young someday, and how her death would help change the lives of millions of people across the globe.

I higly recommend this book. It is one of the few non-fiction pieces that has ever earned my favor. This book is inspiring and uplifting. And any kind of Christian will be able to read it. And even people who aren't Christians might find it enjoyable. Be warned, there are some themes such as sex and smoking. (These come up when her parents mention Rachel's struggle with peer pressure.) But as I said, a good read.

The Lord of the Rings Awards

Eldra over at the blog A Day On Daremo just gave me an award called the Lord of the Rings Award. Thanks Eldra! Very much appreciated.

Now in order to accept this award I must answer the following three questions:

1) Who is your favorite LOTR character and why?

Man there's too many to choose from. But mine would probably be Eowyn. Her story is very interesting, and the fact she destroyed the Witch King of Angmar earns her this position.

2) If you were in Middle-Earth, what species would you be?

I know this may sound cliche but come on, what fantasy lover doesn't dream of being an Elf at least once in their life?

3) If you were in Middle-Earth, where would you be from?

Probably from Rivendell.

Now I must award five others:

Alex at Bus Sweet Bus

Ajnos at Musings of a Hedgepickle

Shieldmaiden at The Clashing of the Swords

Narnian Stew at Thoughts From the Fourth Estate

Phreckle at Define Weird

This is truly awesome. I just love it when I earn awards. I've only been blogging for seven months too! This is fantastic. Thanks Eldra.

Wow, only ten books this year so far? I'm really off of my game. Oh well, I technically have an excuse, too much stuff going on.

Anyway, I decided to drop you all of this review that I am doing on a book I just read. The book is called Reckless and is written by the ever amazing Cornelia Funke.

Reckless is about a man named Jacob Reckless who must find a cure to save his younger brother Will from becoming a Goyle, a horrible species of creature with bodies made of stone. Will gets this curse after he and his brother are attacked by Goyles and Will is terribly wounded. The curse comes from an evil Fairy who plays the primary villain in not only this story, but in many fairy tales such as Sleeping Beauty. With the help of Will's girlfriend, Clara, a greedy business Dwarf named Valiant, and Fox, a friend of Jacob who is a shapeshifting girl who calls herself Fox becuase of the animal she can change into, they set out into the land in order to try and find a cure before Will becomes a Goyle forever.

This book is extremely interesting and I loved it. However, it is rather depressing at times, so it may not go well if you are faint of heart. There is also references to certain subjects in this story, namely what appears to be Jacob's inability to stay with one woman for a while and having one night stands. (This is a book written for preteens so Cornelia doesn't explain fully what takes place.) Otherwise, it is very well written just like all of Cornelia Funke's other books. I would highly recommend it to anyone who is over twelve. And I do hope that she will make a sequel.

NaNoWriMo 2011

Sorry for the slow updates people. I'm currently very busy with school work and the like. Ah well. Maybe in the summer I'll get some major things done.

As of this year I decided to take part in NaNoWriMo. So we'll see how well this goes. I don't think I'll get close to 50,000 words. But it's worth a shot. I think.

Flooding- Desperate Need of Prayer

As some of you may know, the mid-Atlantic and some of the New England states have been viciously assaulted by tropical storm Lee. This storm has set records. It has set a new record of rain fall and amount of damage. It was even worse than hurricane Agnes, who struck the Mid-Atlantic and New England states pretty hard back in 1972.

All this rain flooded a river called the Susquehanna River. It is the sixteenth largest river in the United States that flows from New York down into Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania. When that river flooded, so didn't it's tributaries and other streams and cricks.

I live along the back roads, and we didn't have much water. But I can not say the same for other people in my area. The flooding had submerged two whole nearby towns in water. Houses any less than two stories that weren't on hills were under thick, muddy water. Whole businesses were under water as well. Bridges were completely covered in water. Roads were covered, so weren't detours and the interstate (though that has been reopened). Gas wells have also been under water, and some of the gas and oil leaked into the water. It's hard to imagine. In all my life, I never thought that I would witness something like this.

Though I wasn't effected, sadly I had family members who were. I had two aunts and uncles and cousins who had to evacuate their house in order to avoid the flood. My one cousin and her parents went to another house that my uncle owned, which was on top of a hill. My other cousin and her mother and father had to take shelter at my grandparents' house. My aunt and uncle and cousins who lived up in New York were also effected by the flooding. My cousins missed their first day of school because of Lee. I was also worried when I found out that a couple of my mom's aunts (making them my great aunts) had to evacuate their home/restaurant. It was also pretty scary when my dad went to work yesterday and he ended up trapped on the other side of one of the flooded bridges. He managed to find a way back home that wasn't closed though.

I also have friends in various counties who have been effected by the flooding. I still have yet to hear from some of them. I'm getting even more worried.

My school has been closed down for the past couple of days. The first day was because of all the water covering the roads. Today it is closed because it is serving as an evacuation center for the people in my school district who have nowhere else to go. Other schools have been serving as evacuation centers as well, those who haven't been effected by the flooding. I was distraught when I learned that one school that normally served as an evacuation center didn't get the message about the flooding from the Red Cross due to a communication error. The fire department there had to take it's place, and it quickly became overwhelmed. Churches have also been taking in people.

Which brings me to something else. Some of these evacuation centers lack the proper amount of food and water. We take for granted these things, but there are people out there now who do not have food and water. Others do not even have adequate shelter. Some people are actually trapped in their homes, waiting for rescue. The National Guard was called out to rescue those who were trapped.

Some people chose not to evacuate their homes. The majority of these were elderly people. Many of them had lived through Hurricane Agnes, and they swore they would not abandon their homes. They said they will stay in the second or third floors of their homes. One even said, "I lived here in this house when Agnes came through, and I didn't leave. I will not leave it now."

Some people did heed the warning and evacuated. Which was a good thing. Entire houses have been ripped away by the flooded river. They were just ripped right off of their foundation. One house nearly collided into a nearby bridge and nearly knocked the bridge out. Thankfully, the bridge is still standing firm and strong.

Some businesses decided to try and fight the water. The local movie theater here was busy pumping out water while people came in to take apart the seats so they could save the fabric. It was a tragic sight to see. That movie theater is the treasure of that town, and it is extremely beautiful. They also do plays. It has helped out with countless fundraisers too. I would never have imagined that theater may end up needing it's own fundraiser in order to help with repairs. What's even sadder was this place was remodeled just last year in order to accommodate more theaters. To see all that nearly destroyed by water is just awful.

Hopefully, the theater has flood insurance. Unlike some people who have been effected by water. In one of the towns that is more further away, people who have been flooded do not even have flood insurance. Their agents said they wouldn't need it. Those people are now going to have to pay for those repairs from their own pockets.

In another town, a curfew had to be established last night. People had started to loot houses. At nine 'o' clock that night, all people had to be inside. That just makes me sick. That people would even dare think about looting a place during a natural disaster is just unbelievable.

This is no joke people. It felt like we were back in the time of Noah when the Great Flood came. I heard references to it all day yesterday. Some today too.

Thankfully, some of the water has died down. But it's far from over. Other places still have water rising. As that water in those places starts to lower, it is rising in other places. So needless to say, we are not out of the tunnel yet. We can see a light, but it's not over yet.

Yes, we are all in great need of prayer over here. I am asking you on behalf of all the people of this area who have been effected by the flooding. Some of you who are on thelionscall know and have been praying, I just ask you continue to pray. For those of you who are just learning about it on here, please, don't hesitate to pray. I don't care who or how you to pray to but please, we need all the prayer we can get over here.

Staying strong,

WriterFreak

Recent Reading 9

I finally managed to snag time in order to work on this new recent reading. The book I recently read a few days ago was Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Last Olympian.

In this book, Percy Jackson and his friends at Camp Half-Blood must defend Olympus against Kronus's oncoming assault, which turns into a war spread all across New York City. The gods and goddesses are off fighting against their other enemies, and Olympus is virtually unguarded. And more than likely, it is Olympus's last stand.

What did I think of it? I actually thought it was good. I do have a couple of complaints though. For one, the battle seems a little long. I love books with battles in them, but this one just seemed to be dragged out. I also have a quip about the ending (which I won't spoil for you.) Other than that though, I thought it was good. Fair warning, lots of violence and intense scenes.

Recent Reading 7 & 8

Hey guys, guess what I have been reading for the past three days? Percy Jackson! Oh yes, I'm still a fan of this demigod. I just managed to finish reading the third book on the 31st of August, and finished the fourth book on the first of September.

And I decided to start calling these reviews my recent readings. Sort of makes more sense to me.

In this epic third installment of the Percy Jackson story, it's almost Christmas, and Percy, Annabeth and their friend Thalia (a daughter of Zeus) are summoned by Grover to a military school in order to save a couple of half-bloods who were just discovered. The mission turns into a quest to save Annabeth and the goddess Artemis from the clutches of a Titan god and searching for a creature that can bring death to the Olympians.

What did I think of it? To be honest, I think this one is actually my second favorite. My first favorite would probably be the first book, but I don't know, the last one is really catching my attention, we'll see about that. This one was cleverly written and very interesting. Fair warning though, the stakes are being raised higher in this book. So there's more violence in it than there was in the other two.

In the fourth edition of the Percy Jackson series, Percy finds himself thrown into his deadliest mission yet. It has just been discovered that the Labyrinth still exists, and Luke plans on using it in order to invade Camp Half-Blood. In order to prevent that from happening, Percy, Grover, Annabeth, and Tyson (Percy's Cyclops half-brother from Book 2) enter it in order to find Daedulus and convince him to give them Aridne's string, which can guide anyone out of the Labyrinth.
What did I think of it? To be honest, I think this one is my least favorite. Though there are lots of twists and turns, some of them just don't seem to make much sense to me. Though that could just be me. Overall, the book was pretty good and I did enjoy it. I'm going to warn you again though. The violence in this story is worst than any of the others so far. The stakes have definitely been raised. And you can sense that the greater war is coming in the next book.

Well, there you go.

God bless,

Other News:

I just updated the blog so that people can comment without having to log in using a google account. I trust that my followers and any other readers can be mature when they are sending comments. If they can't be, then I will turn it off. So don't abuse this priviledge.

The image of Nikabrik will serve as my warning picture (think of it as a seal) unless it's being used in posts about my fics.

No More Summer Vacation

Summer vacation is drawing to its close now. I must say, this summer has been rather cruddy. Though the birthday weekend was lots of fun. (That's right folks, my birthday was last week.)

In the mean time, I'm going to give you the low down so that you know what to expect and what not expect.

First, don't expect updates to come frequently. This includes not only my blog, but also my stories. I'll probably be lucky if I can update a story a couple of times a month, if that. I may get luckier with the blog.

For my TLCer friends, don't expect me to be on the chat so much anymore. In order to make more time for writing, I may just have to cut my TLC chat time. You'll probably more likely see me on the weekends.

Let's see, what else is there...

If you do see an update on my stories, it'll more than likely be my Narnia falling to Telmar fic. If not, then my story that talks about how Caspian and Liliandil came to fall in love and how Caspian finally got over his romantical love for Susan.

I wasn't sure, but if you guys wished, but I could throw in a chapter study for each of the chapters of my fics. In it, I can provide you with some good background information on the characters and settings and such that you may not get in the regular story. But again, I'll leave that up to you.

Some of you were wondering how I came up with the names for some of my characters. I was thinking about doing a post that explained where I got them. I'm not certain when I'll get a blog post of that done, but I think I will eventually.

I may- no scratch that- I will put up some new one-shots here and there on occasion. I already got a Narnia songfic featuring Michael W. Smith's song "This Is Your Time" in the making. And I plan on redoing my "This Is Home" Narnia songfic shortly.

My Star Wars fic The Star Is Falling will probably be placed back up once I do some major editing work on it. This includes taking out the poor morality and replacing it with a better kind. It also means getting a more constant idea of where I'm going to go with that fic. I had several different directions I wanted to go. But with this fic, I needed two. (Considering that there is always two different endings to this series.)

Any other fics that I have up that aren't complete will be put on haitus until further notice.

My Narnia/His Dark Materials fic that I'm working on with Anya and Book will be coming around hopefully.

No other new multi-chapter fics will be posted until I got the ones I'm currently working on done.

When I finish reading any books, I will put a review up for you to check out. So don't worry about that.

And I will post updates in my life if I feel that they are worth mentioning.

There we go. You now know what's going to basically take place during the next nine months. We have a long road ahead of us. I know I do, cause this year is the year of many changes for me. I'm sure some of you do as well. Let's all pray that we all have a safe school year this year. (Or a good year in general.)

Yes, it is the leprechaun again. What can I say, I like him. :P

Wishing you good fortune,

Liebster Award

"The goal of the award is to spotlight up and coming bloggers who currently have less than 200 followers. The rules of the award are:
1. Thank the giver and link back to the blogger who gave it to you.
2. Reveal your top 5 picks and let them know by leaving a comment on their blog.
3. Copy and paste the award on your blog.
4. Have faith that your followers will spread the love to other bloggers.
 5. And most of all - have fun!"

Isn't this cool guys? I can't believe I got nominated for such an award. This is very cool, very cool. I would just like to thank my friend from Elizabeth L.W. for mentioning me. She runs a blog called  ImaginationalWonders. Thanks again Elizabeth.

Now then, here are my top 5 picks. This is going to be hard because I follow nearly thirteen or some number of people like that.

1. The Writings of An Aspiring Authoress. This is my friend Autumn Elizabeth's blog. She is the one who first introduced me to blogspot. She's also a friend on TLC, and the one who I fondly call my "Sister-from-another-mother."  It's mostly her writing on here. Though there are a few things such as life thrown in here and there.

2. Define Wierd. This is my friend Hudson's blog. He is one of my friends on TLC. He and I first started becoming friends when we both discovered we had a taste for rap artists such as Eminem. His blog is mostly about his photography. Check him out, this guy is an amazing photographer. The pictures will not disappoint.

3. Musings of a Hedgepickle. This is my friend Ajnos's blog. She is the local TLC lady hedgehog. She is training to become a linguist. She and I often have interesting conversations involving linguistics. (Considering the fact that she and I are into the subject.) Her blog is mostly about her projects she's working on and such. Do check her blog out!

4. Thoughts From the Fourth Estate. This is my friend Will's blog. He is a member of the TLC (I won't reveal who he is because I don't want to give stalkers his identity). I will say this, he and I have grown to become friends from the moment he and I first met on the TLC chat. We couldn't be more different though. Some of our political/moral views will clash at times. And sometimes, he and I will have debates about that. Overall though, he is a good friend and I am glad to know him. This is his political/journalistic blog. So expect a lot of that to be there.

5 . The Clashing of Swords. This is my fellow TLCer Shieldmaiden's blog. She is a little philosopher as I like to refer to her. Though she's rather young, I have a feeling she will grow to become a good thinker. As you can guess, her blog mostly deals with philosophy. And some of the topics she talks about are very interesting. If you look at her first post, you will find that I am mentioned in it. (This was a result of a philosophical discussion she and I had once.)

Well there you go folks. Those are my top 5 picks. Hope you all enjoy the blogs.

God bless,

The Effects Of Conversion On My Stories

Great news everyone. On Saturday I managed to tell my brother and a few friends I was converting to Catholicism. They were accepting of it. My one friend was rather surprised though because he remembers how nasty I use to be towards Catholics. When I was younger I use to call Catholics every name in the book. I use to say that they sucked. I use to say that they were all greedy. I always use to say that every single Catholic priest was a child molester. Geez...now you know how evil I use to be don't you? Thing is, that's only the beginning. Needless to say, my friends were surprised. One of my other friends also said, "Dang, that's a significant change!" I got to say, I agree with him.

With my progress out of the way, I'm going to discuss something regarding my stories. I'm not sure if this has ever crossed any of your minds, but I thought, "I wonder what my readers think will happen to my stories now that I am a Catholic?" Some of you may expect that there wouldn't be a significant change. That is quite contrary. There's such a significant change that I can barely describe it. But I'll try anyway.

Two of my major fics I deleted as a result of my conversion to Catholicism. They are:

The Star Is Falling- a Star Wars fanfiction that was based in the Force Unleashed universe. It was my idea of what the third story would be like. I decided to delete it because of the mentioning of Galen and Juno having sex before marriage being portrayed in a positive light. (Which I didn't agree with deep down anyway but I was going through a stage of rebellion during the time I was writing it.) While I do plan on putting this story back up, I'm not sure when.

The Lion's Materials- A Narnia/His Dark Materials (a.k.a Golden Compass) crossover. Now that I'm a Catholic, whenever I read through that I can't help but feel sick. Especially because of my derailing of the Catholic faith and making it sound like a repressive association seeking to control the entire world. I no longer believe this. Thus, this is the reason why I deleted it. Besides, I found it was horribly written anyway.

These stories won't be effected as much by my conversion:

The Fall of Narnia- I thank God that I didn't a specific denomination in mind when I was plotting this story. While Henry's conversion to Christianity wasn't intended to be the main focus of the story at first, it became such as soon as I started writing. I'm glad that I didn't keep a specific denomination in mind. This way, I can have Henry start his road down to Catholicism.

That Was Romance, This Is True Love- A telling of how Caspian and Liliandil fell in love after the movie-verse VDT and how Caspian abandoned his love for Susan. This wasn't really suppose to be a major Christian piece either, but you can definitely see the Christian elements behind it.

Narnia Characters Speak Out- There shouldn't be much of an effect on this story either. Though I'm going to figure out a reason why there are some Protestants in Aslan's Country. (As a member of the Catholic Church, I do not deny we believe that it is our faith and our good deeds that get us to Heaven.  We do not claim that Protestants, Orthodox, and non-denominationals won't make it to Heaven. But we don't claim that they do either.) Along with a few people who were Pagans. Though I don't think this should be too hard.

Other:

The Final Showdown- Another Narnia/His Dark Material crossover that I'm co-writing with BookObsesserNumberOne and Anya. To be honest, I'm not too sure where this is going to go now that I am a Catholic. I'm hoping that we can at least make it to where we can finish it. After that, I don't plan on doing any Narnia/His Dark Material crossovers. In fact, I'm not even certain if I'll have anything to do with His Dark Materials anymore beens because that story is relatively anti-Catholic (though it targets all religion in general, it focuses on Catholicism).

Just thought I let you know on the status of my stories.

God bless,

Annoyed

This is just going to be a quick blog post. What's it about? It's about why I'm kind of annoyed. Why you may ask? I can't find a site that will give me the readings of Mass. Because I won't be able to get to a Catholic church for a while yet, I'm going to have to look at the Mass readings online. Thing is, my internet won't let me access any of the suggestions that come up on the Google search that I did. Needless to say, yes, I'm a little annoyed and ticked off. Internet Explorer is horrible. Ah well, I'll have to make do with it. I'm going to go and check out the Catholic Answers Forum (which has been suggested to me by Elizabeth and the Catholic apologist I've been talking to) to see if there's anything about Mass on there.

All I can say though is that I can't wait until I can get my own car and a license. That way if I need to go to the Catholic church I can just drive on over myself. Still have yet to tell my parents about my conversion, but I'll tell them soon enough. So far my sister knows. And today I was thinking about telling my brother. Maybe in a couple of days I'll tell my mother, then finally my father. So far my father is the only one with the license, but because he's Baptist, I don't think he'll be taking me anywhere near a Catholic church. Hopefully my mom will be able to help me out when she finally gets her license. At least until I can get my own. Prayers please.

God bless,

The Difficult Choice

Today I made one of the most difficult choices I have made in my life. No doubt there will be more yet to come, especially with this whole divorce issue, but this one earns the "My Most Difficult Decision of the Month" Award. Not only that, but it has been one of the most difficult decisions in my life.

Those of you who know, you know that I said I finally had enough of being a non-denominational Christian. I want you all to read carefully. There is nothing much fun about being non-denominational. In fact, there's nothing really all that great about it. I know some of you are going to disagree with me, because some of you are non-denominational. Fine, I will respect that. God gave us free will, and you are making it on your own decisions on your own free will. (At least I hope you are.) But I ask that you also respect my ability to choose. You don't have to agree with it. Heck you don't even need to like it. But this is my choice, my decision, my right. And if I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. Simple as that. And just before you get any ideas. I have been researching constantly on this subect. I have prayed constantly. Thought constantly. Read constantly. In the end, I made this decision. You don't need to respect my choice, just respect the fact that this is what I choose. If not, then I don't know what to tell you. You're going to have to unfollow my blog or something. Or you'll have to leave my stories alone. Or you'll have to avoid me in general.

I want those of you who are going to continue to follow this blog to know that I am grateful. You are loyal to me. Clearly you are my truest fans, and in some cases, my truest friends. I want to thank you for that.

Now then, I'll tell you about the choice.

On August 2nd, I came to the realization that I couldn't continue being non-denominational. Not the way I was anyway. The best way to describe my pain and such is by using a metaphor. I know most (if not all) of you  have at least read the Narnia books. So you know what I mean when I talk about the Silver Chair and how I was constantly clinging to it. And sometimes I was acting like Puddleglum, proclaiming, "I will believe in Aslan even if there is no Aslan." To simply put it, I was constantly going through a trial of doubt, reconcilation, and doubt again. It was a cycle that seemed to never end. One that wouldn't stop since I left the Baptist church that I had left months ago. It was then I realized it was because I had the lack of the support system and teaching of a church to help guide me. And it was then I realized that being non-denominational wasn't the answer, at least not the kind of answer I'm looking for.

So after much praying, I felt that same feeling I felt that day I nearly committed suicide. Clearly God heard my prayers, and He sent this feeling to guide me. It was by this feeling I was able to narrow down my options of denominations between the Church of England and the Catholic church. However, it was between these two different denominations I found myself stuck. Mostly because the two of them are so similar and so alike in theology that I didn't know what to think. Admittedly, I faltered, hesitated, whichever word you like to use. I was stuck between these two denominations. I didn't know which one to choose.

This was what led me to do a lot of searching. This included lots of research. I had to pour questions out to a Catholic apologist. And I also asked a friend about Anglicanism (the alternative name for the Church of England.) Some could argue and say I didn't give Anglicanism a proper chance because I didn't ask lots of questions, but the reality is I didn't need to. My friend sent me a link which told me all (if not most) of the doctrines that were taught in the Church of England (not the Epicospal one). But in true reality, I don't think it would have mattered. The Feeling seemed to be leading me in the right direction anyway. I just came to a part that seemed like a fork in the road. But the way was revealed to me by my prayers.

I'm pretty sure you have probably guessed it by now, but I am going to tell you anyway. The denomination that I decided to join was Catholicism. I will say this, it's going to be difficult for me. I'm going to have reorganize some of my views, and get use to the rituals, and the practices and such. But I will go through with it. Somehow, some way, I'm going to succeed. It's going to be even more difficult considering the fact that my father is a Baptist, and no doubt he will disagree with these new views. But I will manage. I have faced suicide and thousands of other obstacles in my lifetime. I know with God's help I'm going to make it through this as well.

Well there you go, you now know the difficult choice I had to make this month. You may now go ahead and do what you see fit. If you feel you should quit following my blog, by all means, go ahead. If you feel you will follow my blog regardless of what I believe, than that's fine too. All I ask is that you please accept the fact that I have made my choice. I have researched, I have prayed, I have followed the Feeling. Not only that, but I kept God in my sights.

May God keep you,

Current Reading 5 & 6

Alright, another short break from "The Fall of Narnia" fic in order to talk about what I have finished reading! My grandmother bought me a book filled with C. S. Lewis's non-fiction Signature Classics. This includes his books, Mere Christianity, The Screwtape Letters, The Great Divorce, The Problem of Pain, The Abolition of Man, Miracles, and A Grief Observed.  I have recently finished reading Mere Christianity and The Screwtape Letters.

Mere Christianity is basically a collection of essays that Lewis wrote which uses common sense to point out the existence of God. In this book he discusses various issues having to do with the Christian faith. This includes the Good Deeds vs. Faith Alone that gets you to Heaven, the Separation of Church and State, Marriage, Sex, Divorce, Homosexuality is briefly mentioned in this, and other things as well.

What did I think of it? I thought it was pretty good. And it was mainly becuase of this book that I have been brought to accept the fact my ideas about theology are faulty. Lewis is also pretty convincing. And I believe that any man who is half convinced may find this helpful.

The Screwtape Letters is a book that Lewis wrote and dedicated to his friend J. R. R. Tolkien. In this books a series of letters written by a demon of high position named Screwtape to his nephew Wormwood, who is struggling in tempting a man. Here Screwtape talks about how to use family ties, pride, world events, friends, etc., in order to tempt the man into giving up God.

What did I think of it? Well to be honest, I found this series to be very convicting. Lewis manages to write an interesting work where we see how demons like to turn us away from God. And if you don't feel convicted in some way by the time you finish this, then I'm going to be honest, there's something wrong with you. This book has made me feel convicted in a great assortment of ways that I can't even begin to describe. And it has opened my mind and eyes to the reality of who I am. A very excellent read, a very excellent read.

Well there you go. The two latest books I have read and completed. Keep checking back every now and then to see what else I have been reading. And also, don't forget to watch out for my latest news about my fics.

May the Lion keep you,

A List of Gratitude

Before I go on and talk about anything having to do with "The Fall of Narnia" I have decided to do something first. I would love to thank the following people for their support and for believing in me. Without them, I would not be as great an author as I am today. Some of them have helped a great deal with my "Fall of Narnia" piece, and others I thank because they have helped me develop my writing style.

I would like to thank the following four people who have been my constant editors since I started this fic. They are from thelionscall.com, and I would like to call them by the names they go by on the forum in order to keep their identities more of a secret. A couple of them actually follow this blog too.  My gratitude goes to Ajnos, the talking South African linguist, Eowyn of Narnia the Writing Contest Coordinator, Narnian Steward, and Lil Princess. These four have always been willing to set aside their valuable time in order to look over my chapters, and point out things I need to work on. If it weren't for them, my story would probably be very choppy and wouldn't make much sense.

I would also like to thank the other folks on the lionscall.com for listening to me going on and on about this fic. It's amazing that they haven't thrown virtual items at me out of annoyance. They're good people on there, and have "patience as saints" as an expression goes in my area. It's amazing to know such people on there. They have all supported me in my writing and in developing my relationship with God and in Christ. And who aren't afraid to talk about spiritual matters. May the Lion always keep you between his paws and may every step you take be with him.

I would like to give a special thanks to Elizabeth L.W. She is perhaps my biggest fan when it comes to this story, and she is the one who shows that there are actually people on the Internet, both inside and outside the lionscall, who care about it.

My thanks goes also to Jill Veila. You who have been of great help when I needed aid in blogging. May the Lion keep you in sight, my sister-from-another-mother. (We're not blood related, but we have so much in common it feels like we are.)

Also, I would like to thank my fanfiction Mormon friend BookObsesserNumberOne , and my fanfiction atheist friend Anya the Purple. The two of you have been such great influences when it comes to developing my writing ability. Along with my friends on the lionscall, you have helped with the development of my sentence structures. The two of you have been my partners in writing with our Chronicles of Narnia/His Dark Materials crossovers, and I would not trade that partnership for any other. And I pray that one day you will come to accept the Truth the same as I have.

My other thanks go to my 7th, 8th, and 9th grade English teachers. Mrs. W, for first getting me into poetry. Mrs. M for being willing to take her valuable time in order to look over my stories, especially because of all the essays that she had to read! And I would also like to pay special thanks to Miss T. For first getting me into Greek Mythology, and also first getting me into blogging. She have also served influentially in my writing style, teaching me to always put paragraph breaks whenever a different character is speaking and constantly badgering me about using coordinating conjunctions as the first words of sentences. Do not fear, I'm trying to train out of that.

I would also like to thank my French teacher, Mrs. H. She is the one who first got me into foreign language studying. And it's because of her that I am trying to learn linguistics. I'm looking forward to taking her French 2 class this upcoming school year.

I would love to thank my best friend, Brianne. Because she has often been the source of my inspiration in my writing, especially my poems. She has been there for me when things were dark. And I plan on doing the same for her should things get dark. And though we may be far, our friendship is only going to grow closer.

I would like to give much of my gratitude to my family. Though we may be broken apart, you have always played important roles in my life. Mom and Dad because they have always supported me. My bro- because even though he can be a pain in the butt at times, I wouldn't have any other brother in the world. And to my sister- the one with the fiery temper but the strong faith in the Aslan in our world. May you both continue to have such belief as you continue to grow and get to know more about the world.

Last, but never least, in fact the most important, I would like to thank God himself. For doing so much for me. He has served as my light when things grew dark. He has provided me life where other things would have given me death. And it's because of Him that I know that I have a purpose in this world. A purpose that is worth living. And it's because of Him that when I know my time comes, I will not have to fear the grave.

My deepest of gratitude goes to you all,

The Cast of "The Fall of Narnia"

So I was just thinking, perhaps you want to know the main cast of "The Fall of Narnia." Also known as "How Narnia Fell" on thelionscall.com. I decided that I would put the main cast here. Meaning these are the characters that are the most important in the story. Warning, there will be spoilers thrown out here and there. So if you don't want to spoil the story, I'd stay clear. Also, there will be a few things in pictures that are out of place. I tried to take pictures that would closely represent the characters, I ask you ignore things that seem out of place. Like the picture of Mr. Beaver standing beside the Centauride I chose to represent Summermane.

I will start us off with our main cast member, Henry Shepherd. He is the most important protagonist in the story because it is his spiritual journey that the story follows. In this story he is seventeen years old. He is dating Alice Smith. And he is also attending Oxford University in order to study English. He is smart and introverted mostly, but he isn't afraid to talk to people he knows. Nor is he afraid to cause trouble. He is also analytical, which is why it will take more than a near death experience in order to persuade him to come back to Christian faith. Due to the time he spent in a private school, he learned fencing, which helps him with his sword fighting. His dream is to become a teacher.

Alice Smith is another one of our main protagonists, but the story doesn't focus on her so much. Rather, she is the one who will mostly influence Henry's journey back to Christianity. Though timid by nature, Alice is loyal and steadfast. She is also prone to forget things. Her eyes are quick though, and she has a pretty good aim because her mother and father insisted that she learn archery during the times they spent in the countryside.  Her dream is to become a journalist.

Ventius the Faun is a loyal and steadfast Narnian who believes in what the Tales tell. He is swift and accurate, one of the best archers in Narnia at the time. He is calm and easygoing, and desires to help when he can. Despite the fact he knows its hopeless, he dreams to one day see Narnia fulfilled to proper glory. He is the ancestor of Mentius the Faun, and is also distantly related to Tumnus the Faun.

Don't pay attention to the Beaver
Summermane the Centauride is a stern and serious Narnian. And she is very smart. She refuses take nonsense from anyone, no matter who they are. Though a healer, Summermane is also skilled in sword fighting and archery. In this story, she will be of great influence with helping Henry become a better swordsman. Though a strong follower of Aslan, she struggles finding a balance between being a follower, and also trying to be a single mother to her son, Quickhoof; her husband having passed on to Aslan's Country. She is also the aunt of Glenstorm. She knows Narnia will fall to the Telmarines. So she dreams of being able to live long enough to see her son make it to adulthood. But if not, she dreams that she will die defending him.

Mevros is a fierce and proud Minotaur. But he is also honorable, something that many Minotaurs aren't, and loyal. He is the son of the Mávraíma Clan chief. Though we first meet him when he attacks Henry and Alice in Chapter 2, he later becomes one of the central good guys. This happens after Alice rescues him from Telmarines who attack him. He swears to protect and serve Alice until she decides to release him from the oath. His loyalty grows beyond just the oath though as he fights alongside the Loyal Narnians and helps Henry and the others on the quest to find the Horn of High Queen Susan. He is also a critical part in bringing the Minotaurs on the side of the Loyal Narnians. His dream is to one day reclaim his right to become chief when his father decides that he is unfit to become the next chief. He also dreams of one day winning the heart of the beautiful minotauride, Athidie.

Erdik is a Red Dwarf who is courageous and determined. He is a skilled strategist and is knowledgable in making weapons. He can be a bit doubtfall at times when it comes his faith in Aslan. It is because of him Henry learns that faith must be strong and be able to withstand against any kind of attack that life may throw. But he is loyal to his fellow Dwarfs and his fellow Loyal Narnians, and will not waver easily when it comes to his bond to them. He dreams of one day seeing that the Red Dwarfs and Black Dwarfs reuniting under just the title "Dwarfs."

Mathyr is a bold Satyr who is the high general over all the Loyal Narnian troops, a rare honor that is usually held only by Centaurs. Mathyr is not one to shy away from a battle or any kind of fight. But when you manage to talk some common sense into him, he usually understands why an attack must be held back or carried out at a different time. He is the husband of a female Satyrette* named Evrya, and she is pregnant with his child. His faith in Aslan isn't as strong as most Narnians, and he is quickly put into doubt. Usually his wife will steer him back on track though. His dream is to one day see Narnia restored to proper glory and see that his new family will grow up during that glorious time.

Forgive the Horns, I couldn't find a picture of a satyrette.

Evrya is a Satyrette who is just as bold as her husband, though more cooperative. She is a loyal wife who stays by her husband's side and won't easily leave him. She is the carrier of his child. Her faith in Aslan isn't as easily shaken as his, and she is often the ones who brings him back on track. She dreams of one day raising her new family during a new glorious age of Narnia.

Anoraseed, also known just as Anora, is a beech Dryad known for her beauty and for her cleverness. She is the daughter of one of my OC named Elloraleaf, who features in one of my other Narnia fics. Though clever, beautiful, and generally passive by nature, she is ferocious when provoked. She and her fellow Dryads under the command of Ventius the Faun, patrol the Lantern Waste and the borders of the Western Wild, the areas where both Telmarines and the Witch's forces like to attack. She dreams of bringing the Telmarines to justice for their crimes against the Holy Trees.

Serisawood, also known just as Serisa, is a service berry Dryad who serves as the messenger in the squadron of Dryads led by the Faun Ventius.  If it weren't for her quickness in getting Summermane, Henry probably would have died on his first day in Narnia. Though she isn't the most powerful of the Dryads, Serisa knows how to fight. Like Anoraseed and the rest of Trees of Lantern Waste, she dreams of bringing the Telmarines to justice for cutting their brothers and sisters down.

Caspian the First is the king of the Telmarines who first led his people into Narnia in hopes of establishing their new kingdom. The Narnians never paid them any heed at first because they were so busy fighting amongst themselves over who was going to rule the kingdom. But when Caspian the First ordered that some of the Trees of Lantern Waste be cut down, he aroused the anger of the Trees and the rest of the Narnians. In general, Caspian the First isn't really a cruel king. He only seeks to see his people prosper and live. Though he fails to realize this brings misery upon all of the original inhabitants of Narnia. Because he's rather young, still in his twenties, he's also rather uncertain at times. Often he will question himself and his actions. But he usually brushes these aside. This also comes from the fact that he is new to parenthood, because his wife had just given birth to a son whom they named Caspian the Second.

General Navranorn is Caspian the First's most trusted general. Though loyal and steadfast to Caspian the First, Navranorn is also quick to anger and doesn't like to be beaten. He will seek revenge in some way or another. He even vows revenge on Alice because she stopped him from attacking Mevros. Which is why he is more than willing to hunt down the party that is set in finding High Queen Susan's Horn.

Lupun is the alpha male of a pack of wolves that patrol the Lantern Waste. His pack is also in line with the Rebel Narnians. When the party set on finding Queen Susan's Horn wanders into his pack's territory, Lupun sends his wolves out to kill them. This leads to a slight skirmish. Though he doesn't play the most major role in the world, his order to attack gives Mevros a chance to prove his loyalty to Alice for the first time.

Loki is a Black Dwarf who is the leader of the Rebel Narnians. He seeks to corrupt Narnia and make it so that the Dwarfs will be able to rule Narnia instead of Adam's race. However, his efforts have also drawn the loyalty of other Narnian cultures; Satyrs, Fauns, Dryads, Naiads, Talking Beasts, etc. Loki was created to represent racist people and to also represent people who choose to ignore parts of Christ's teachings just so that they have an excuse to gain something they want. He was also created to help Henry understand the times for mercy and justice.

Vemros is the father of Mevros and the chief of the Mávraíma Clan. He is also one of the largest supporters of the creatures who seek to regain control of Narnia in the name of the White Witch. After Mevros tried to rebel against the way of life of the Minotaurs, Vemros and the council decided to punish his son by making him fight with standard troops. When Mevros comes to rescue Henry and Alice, he threatens to kill his son for treason. But by Aslan's will, Henry manages to use Vemros's pride against him to get him to fight Mevros in a duel to the death. The winner would get complete control of the clan. What the outcome of that duel is you will find out later as the story progresses.

*Though in Greek Myths Satyrs usually marry and fall in love with Wood and Water Nymphs (Dryads and Naiads) Satyrettes were created so as to keep non-humanoids from mating with humanoids.

Well, there you have it. That is the main cast that is featured throughout this fanfic. That isn't to say that those are the only characters. In fact, there are plenty more that haven't even been addressed yet, both major (though not as major as the ones listed above) and minor. I plan on putting a new page to this blog dedicated to naming the cast of "The Fall of Narnia."

The Fall of Narnia - A Narnia Fanfiction

Among the many stories that I have on fanfiction.net and on the forums of thelionscall.com, this is story that is currently getting my main attention at the moment. The reason why is mostly because it is what I hope will become my most major project. So far it's gain lots of reviews on thelionscall, but not a lot on fanfiction.net. (Oh well.) Anyway, this post is going to be talking about the Narnia fanfic that I have come to call "The Fall of Narnia." Basically, this fic a telling on how Narnia may have probably fell to Telmar and how it fell into the Dark Age.

For those of you who are reading this, you should probably feel lucky. Why you may ask? Because you get the inside scoop about my fanfiction. And who knows, maybe even sneak peeks from time to time. See, it pays to take a look at this blog doesn't it? ;)

Now then, first off, perhaps I should give you a summary on what's going to happen in this story. As I mentioned before, it tells how Narnia fell to the Telmarines and how it entered the Dark Age. During this time of approaching darkness, there is much political turmoil and chaos. This turmoil branches all the way back when High King Peter and his siblings returned to their own world after ruling Narnia for fifteen years. Shortly after their return, Narnia is grieving for its lost kings and queens. In an attempt to help restore order to Narnia before lawlessness grows, the neighboring kingdom and ally of Narnia, the country of Archenland, establishes Prince Corin, son of King Lune of Archenland, as the next ruler. The bloodline of Corin rules Narnia for nearly one thousand years. And while this era isn't exactly a Golden Age, Narnia continues to thrive and is at peace with most of the kingdoms in the Narnian world (though occasionally Calormen will attack.) Time continues to pass, and soon things begin to change. The creatures of Narnia begin to develop a general cultural belief that Narnia doesn't need the Children of Adam (also known as humans) as their ruler. They believe that Narnia can rule itself without them. This despicable theory continues to grow, and soon becomes commonly accepted to the point where it is considered acceptable...and even true.

Finally, after nearly one thousand years, the Narnians who sought to rid of the rule of the Children of Adam decide to do just that. The Narnians gather into one massive army, and in their mighty force they launch a rebellion on the heir of Corin, the beautiful Queen Swanwhite II. After six months of war, Queen Swanwhite II and the other descendants of Corin are killed, and Narnia is without a human ruler. Though the Narnians feel victorious at first, they soon realize that they now have to pick a new ruler. This leads to the clashes between the different species of Narnia. Centaurs, Fauns, Satyrs, Marsh-wiggles, Dwarfs, Talking Beasts, and others fight for the throne of Narnia. In additon there is still conflict between these Rebel Narnians and the Loyal Narnians, those who still believe in the truth that Narnia is never right unless a Child of Adam was ruler. To add on top of this, the Dark Narnians, the creatures who fought on the side of the White Witch, the evil ruler of Narnia before High King Peter and his siblings,  have also entered the conflict in hopes they can regain the kingdom in the name of the Witch. Just when you think things can't get any worse, we get another group who seeks to control Narnia. This group is the race of humans known as the Telmarines, who emigrated to Narnia to escape famine in their home country of Telmar, which lies beyond Western Wild of Narnia. Though they appeared weak and ragged due to their flight, they became stronger over the years, and they too seek to gain control of the blessed kingdom of Narnia. And the reason why Archenland hasn't sent a new person to rule is because they are dealing with Calormen, the Empire that seeks to control Narnia too.

It is in this time of waging war and treachery that two humans from Oxford, England are summoned by the Great Lion Aslan, ruler and creator of the Narnian world and all worlds. These two humans, Henry Shepherd and Alice Smith, are given the task of finding one of Narnia's lost treasures, the Horn of High Queen Susan, so that one day it can be placed  where someone else will find it. In addition, it his hoped that the finding of the Horn will bring the Loyal Narnians and the Rebel Narnians under one banner once more. These missions won't be easy though, all of Narnia is at war. In addition, they are also called to learn a few lessons of their own.

Thus, this is the summary that I have given you involving my fanfiction story, "The Fall of Narnia." My next couple of posts will be focused on this fanfic. In these posts I will be discussing what's going on the story and talking about what I am doing in order to go into deeper depth and development of the Narnian world. In addition, I will talk about what has been inspiring the story and what material I may be using. In addition, I may provide even provide a separate section or even a different blog where you can discuss this work of fanfiction if you desire.

I want to thank you for hearing me blab about this story for nearly seven paragraphs. And I would like to thank you all for your support and prayers that you have given. They have definitely helped me during these troubled times. Things will probably be getting a little hectic before they get better. So yes, I ask that you continue to pray for my family and I, but I just want you to know, I am forever grateful to you all.

God bless,

WriterFreak

A Poem

Yes, believe it or not, I do write poetry. And in my disbelief, people actually like them! I have this series of poems on fanfiction.net which are called, "Narnia Character Poems." In that series of poems I explore the spiritual journeys of characters through the movie-verse perspective. (Someone needs to redeem the movie-verse in some way or another. And because it was the movies who first pulled me to Narnia I thought, why not me?) And if they represent something (such as Aslan=God, Jesus) then I tend to explore that as well. Anyway, people actually like them! Which boggles me to be honest, cause I don't think I'm all that great of a poet. I also have various poems on the Bible section of fanfiction.net too.

For those of you who are following my blog or are reading this, consider yourselves lucky. You are getting a glimpse of a poem written by me that is nowhere else on the internet. That's right, nowhere. It's not even on my fictionpress account (which I don't even use to be honest, don't know why I have it.) It's not even on thelionscall.com either. That's right, it's here and here only.

Ok, I'll stop rambling and let you read.

Sometimes life seems so unfair
In the times when you can't bear
All the pain and misery flare
And you can't escape the monster's lair.

Nothing seems so great and bright
You feel that there's no one in sight
You question how you will win this fight
But I'm telling you now you better hold tight.

For I see in the distance someone,
A man who came and paid a ton
To rescue you from being shunned
And He has already won.

So come now wipe those tears away
For no one's life is too high to pay
So listen to what Jesus has to say
Let Him mold you like clay

This is the reason why
You no longer have to cry
I'm not telling you lies
So come and don't be shy.

Believe with all your soul
You're coming out of that hole
For the Lamb has paid the toll
Watch the happiness unfold.

You no longer have to weep,
You can now finally sleep,
Don't worry about the leap
You are now one of the sheep.

The wolf ran beyond,
So sing a song,
All that was wrong
It is now gone.

Admittedly, it's not one of my best pieces. I wrote it in like five minutes and wasn't going to share it, but I felt the need to post it for some odd reason. I hope it was ok despite how awful it was, trust me though, my poetry is usually better. Don't believe me? Take a look. You can some of my poems on fanfiction.net and on the lionscall.com.

Admittedly I was a bit lazy for this post. I promise I'll post a better one soon though, when I'm not feeling so lazy.

Current Reading 3 & 4

During the amount of time I have been gone, I have recently finished reading Percy Jacskon & the Olympians #1 The Lightning Thief and Percy Jackson & the Olympians #2 The Sea of Monsters.

In the first book of the series, Percy Jackson discovers that his true origins. His father is the Greek god of the Seas known as Poseidon. Because his mother is a human though, he is not a full god, but a half-blood. If you think this is cool, think again. Percy is now on the run from Greek monsters who seek to kill him because he is now the most powerful half-blood known so far. In addition, he must now go on a quest to prove his innocence when he learns that he's being framed for stealing Zeus' lightning bolt. And if he can, he must try and save his mother, who is being held captive. With the help of his friends Annabeth, daughter of the Greek goddess Athena, goddess of wisdom and warfare, and his best friend Rover the Satyr, he sets out on a journey to the Underworld, ruled by the Greek god named Hades, which is located somewhere in Las Vegas. But the journey isn't going to be easy. Hades' Furies seek to make Percy their next meal, and other monsters want to have him for lunch as well. On top of it all, he must figure out the mystery of why Hades would steal the lightning bolt.

In the next book of the series, Percy Jackson is one year older and is preparing for his next summer at Camp Half-Blood. But things go terribly wrong. After arriving at Camp Half-Blood he learns that Thalia's Tree, the only thing that protects the borders of the Camp, is dying. Someone poisoned it. In addition, he learns that his best friend, Grover, is stranded on a deserted island and if not rescued soon, will become the next meal of the great Cyclops known as Polyphemus. Against the orders of the camp directors, Percy sets out with Annabeth, along with his new friend and half-brother Tyson the Cyclops to the Sea of Monsters, known also as the Bermuda Triangle, in order to rescue Grover. And of course, try to figure out who poisoned Thalia's tree, and save the tree as well. As things often turn out for Percy Jackson though, the journey is never easy. Especially when you have an army of monsters led by a half-blood traitor seeking to kill you before you can find a magic golden sheep fleece that can heal any wound or injury of any living thing.

Current Reading 2

Hey everyone, gosh it feels like I haven't updated in a while. Things still aren't as good as home as I like, but I think I'm good enough to start posting on the blog again. So I figured I'd tell you what I've been currently reading.

As of now, I have just finished reading Star Wars: Truce at Bakura by Kathy Tyers. As the title suggests, it is a Star Wars novel. It follows the adventures of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Leia Organa shortly after the battle of Endor in Episode 6 Return of the Jedi.

In this book, the Rebel Alliance comes across a transmission from an Imperial Fleet. The Fleet is located near a planet called Bakura, a planet that was just succombed to Imperial Rule three years ago. The planet is under attack by some mysterious alien force that seeks to destroy all humanity called the Ssi-ruk. Realizing that this could be a key in order to get Bakura to join the Alliance, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO, and a Rebel Fleet are sent to aid Bakura and perhaps discuss a treaty. Along the quest to save Bakura they meet some new characters, including a young woman who is Bakuran Senator named Gaeriel, whom Luke develops feelings for. Though the Imperials on Bakura aren't too thrilled with the Alliance, they admit they have no choice but to cooperate with the Alliance.

Meanwhile, a force-sensitive human boy named Dev Sibwarra struggles to keep his freedom of will onboard the Ssi-ruk ship. When he senses Luke Skywalker's presence through the Force, he tries everything in his power to warn him what the Ssi-ruk plan to do to humanity. But it's not easy, especially when you are being brainwashed every few days.

What did I think of it? Well, to be honest, it was kind of strange. One of the strangest books I've ever read to be even more honest. But the book overall was pretty good, especially the ending, which was very interesting. I would recommend it to any Star Wars fan, especially those who wonder what happened after the final episode.

Divorce

Do you know anyone who is divorced? A friend, a family member, perhaps even your own parents are divorced. Divorce is awful. It hurts very much. When one experiences divorce, it breaks the heart, causing it to fall into thousands upon thousands of pieces. So many pieces that it is difficult to put them together. And sometimes, not all of them are put together. Some are lost forever, never to return and complete the puzzle again.

Currently, I am experiencing the pain that occurs when one's parents divorce. It hurts terribly. Especially because of everything that has caused it. I would rather not talk about what, but I will say that there is a lot of hurt and betrayal rolling around in my family. My heart aches, both from the sadness and anger. I am constantly shedding tears and grieving. And when I'm not grieving, I'm thinking about it because I can't push the fact that my parents are getting a divorce out of my mind. Not even for a few split seconds can I forget about it. I suspect that I will never forget about it either. They will never be together again. Nothing can stop them now. They are going to get a divorce, whether I like it or not.

As you can tell, it hurts. Not only is it hurting me, but it is hurting my parents and my siblings. I can see the loss etched into their faces. Even though we try to wear masks that cover up our true feelings, we know each other so well that we can see beyond them. That's what stinks even more. Our family use to be very close. Now everything has fallen apart. And I feel helpless because I can't place the pieces back together. In some cases, despite the fact that I know it is not my fault, I can't help but think that is.

So I would like you all to know that as I am dealing with this pain, it may be a while before I post my next blog post. I will be busy distracting myself with other matters. Mostly writing, but maybe reading a book or something as well. Please, if you wouldn't mind, I would like you to keep me in your prayers. Not just me, but my siblings, my mother, and my father as well. This is difficult on all of us. And it will be for a long time to come I imagine.

Until the next post, I bid farewell.
